07.04.25 (1): Stags Leaping

Very wonderful poetry collection. I picked this up when my ex-longing was at its worst but it is a wonderful, wonderful poetry collection, full of very intense feelings and imagery. I think my favorite is the titular poem, Stag's Leap, and the cheering way I feel when someone gets away - even from me - was illustrated very well, along with the imagery of the stag-picture. Especially this line: Oh leap, leap! Careful of the rocks! Yes even if people are leaping away from me I have to wish on them happiness.

I also loved Not Going to Him on sheer imagery. The scrolling and then lingering over parts of her ex-husband's body - that's a way of describing that I'll definitely use, and it's so touching: and then, in a sweep, calf shin knee thigh pelvis. Yes that is how you linger and love. And I share the sentiment of 'if you feel the relationship is constricting you then I guess it's your right to tear out of it,' even if that relationship is with me, which is the sentiment of Pain I Did Not.

And it's so daringly revealing! I have not yet come across something so succinctly and specifically described as the 'lock-clicks' in the context of loving (I used to make them). Dilute my pain this did not, though. I'm still sad about my ex.
