Day 194.1: Elizabeth Taylor!

A View of the Harbour has been a wonderfully soft and literary read so far! It's so smooth! I'm in awe. This is how prose should be. How does she do it? It's amazingly artless, the way she writes so many of these different characters. She's so deft in jumping in and out of their viewpoints as well! I'm very quickly turned around and baffled by multiple viewpoints, but not this time. She's so gentle. It's true what Sarah Waters says in her introduction to the book: Elizabeth Taylor is painterly. I'd read her describe paint drying, very gladly. She also has that literary talent of implying, of making her characters very full without necessarily telling the reader. I think she shares this with Henry Green. Elizabeth Taylor I must read more and more of your works!
