sunshowerdandelionStarted on You'll Enjoy It When You Get There and only just now realizing the emigres in Pnin (and their pretensions) are supposed to be a parody. I thought them being pedantic was gently poking fun rather than a fullblown thing, but I was thinking the whole time, "Wow, if I could get paid to sit around all day reading lit I would do it." But I guess they were being incredibly pretentious for little reason.
First story in You'll Enjoy It When You Get There is very chilling. Hester Lilly is definitely how you write a righteous villain, tragic yes, but also incredibly destructive and vindictive. And reading as reasonable sometimes and with great interiority to make it all understandable.

- Pulled out the guts of this chapter again sighs, things sound so stilted! I think this fix is a little better in that it allows the chapter to breathe, but still not happy with it.
- I really need to reengage with the ficwriting community haha.
