I've only realized now that I've read a lot of her novels actually. I've read The Optimist's Daughter (echoes of Robbie in a character there), The Ponder Heart, and now Delta Wedding. I realize I'm definitely not qualified enough to read her fiction, since I'm not well-versed in myths, but I'm going to try anyway.

Eudora Welty's short stories are very challenging for me. She's like Henry Green in that she piles on so much in such a small amount of word-space. Her sentences suggest universes. No wonder Alice Munro took from her.
