I tried an exercise off Donald Mass's book today, about showing emotions, and while I don't think I stayed to the letter of the exercise (the exercise demanded that my characters be very expressive about their emotions) I think I did decently enough in illustrating Alice's emotion: Tremulous and desperate hope at Marisa. I'll probably continue it (gosh the prose is so clunky though!) tomorrow. Somewhat ironic that I'm trying exercises to avoid writing substantially... but I chose to write substantially. I'm also seeing the merits of this kind of planned writing.

I ticked off most of what I meant to do yesterday. I'm quite happy with today and I think I made new friends. Here's hoping I can, like Alice, maintain my tremulous hope.
