Really enjoyed today as a holiday. I got to do a lot of relaxing things and not worry about tomorrow or the day after (also holidays). Faffed around a lot, which is always fun. Read something pretty light but very engaging, The Priory of the Orange Tree (last 300 pages or so), and found a very nice manga by the author of In This Corner of the World, also about Hiroshima. I also rewatched Jenny Nicholson's stuff about the Star Wars Hotel, which remains very fun. I napped a lot. I ate cheese sourdough with a sort of tuna-onion dip (homemade).
In other words, a very fun holiday! I think I felt less pressure with this holiday because it was literally only one day. Happy May Day to all workers! I know this sounds flippant but it isn't.
In writing news, I kept writing today, first draft of my AU chapter. Was very rough, but now it's clear that the emotional backbone of the story is going to be Reisen's sudden anger and her interrogation of it, and her gradually, slowly, trying to let the resentment go. Of course she's right to resent her treatment as an illegal immigrant, but this AU Reisen is composed enough to know that she doesn't need to litigate it against these new would-be friends.
