I wrote a bunch of stuff today which felt choppy and possibly disrupted the rhythm of the chapter quite fatally. I think I'm going to try writing drafts in 'one breath' (sort of) because usually I do hit some kind of stride as I'm writing, and I'm usually able to follow beat after plot beat pretty well. And then I should edit and rewrite - but probably, excepting when I change the plot or shuffle stuff, I should really not try to edit as I write, and especially not try to write long descriptive passages that break up the pacing before I actually finish the chapter's spine. In this case it's the AU.
In other news: I finished The Priory of the Orange Tree, after nearly a full year of reading off and on (mainly off). I did not like the characters much but the plot was good and the prose was quite nice, the worldbuilding rather smooth. Tomorrow I'll try to type up my thoughts in a more coherent fashion.

My impressions today:
- Further impression from yesterday of a deserted big-box store parking lot, at 6, and the rain curtaining on it and the damp air resulting. In the middle distance a small restaurant inside the parking lot filled with people, looking warm and compact. A nice private desolation to the parking lot.
- Cat sleeping and stretched out, very happy.
- Peeks of the setting sun over roofs from a low vantage.
