29.05.2025 (1): A Confidence Hit!

sunshowerdandelionI read someone else's fic and was blown away by their writing. Because of how my self is constituted, I had an immediate feeling of inferiority, as well as doubt about my writing abilities. My fic also lost subs, ouch!
But objectively speaking, today was a good day. I read a lot of The Stand and came across a shockingly racist part of it (the black junta part). I reread Runaway and the titular short story and was newly jarred by the things I missed on my first (and second) read - that turned out to be quite obvious - that the ending with Flora's bones and Carla and her refusal to see them was absolutely revelatory. I even managed to read some of Robin Hobb's old stories, and I'm very much looking forward to Wizard of the Pigeons which I think could be a good companion piece to The Stand. I also found Samantha Harvey's Orbital, which I'm liking very much also. All in all a packed day for reading.
I even managed to cycle and walk lots! So this is me at 11 pm trying to lift myself. Go, me. I'm sure I can write and if I can't, I will learn how to. This is my avocation. I also wrote quite a bit of my new chapter, which I'm alright with.
