I had a long day today, relatively (10 hours), and writing with that amount of work and work-related things dogging you is exhausting. There's a lot of drag - in a bad way. I usually need to read first before I write but by the time I'm home I'm so exhausted that I have to lie down for a bit first, and soon it's too late in the day and I have to get writing. But I did get to read today - I finished Kappa - and I did get to write quite okay, but the feeling of glueyness and the deadness of the writing is nagging at me.

Before I write I absolutely need to read someone like Alice Munro or Elizabeth Taylor or Flannery O'Connor. I will try my best tomorrow.
