Oct. 19th, 2025 09:14 pmA lot got done today and yesterday. I finished reading The Diving Pool by Yoko Ogawa - a very eerie short story collection, I loved the titular piece most. Like Aya, I do sometimes have that duality between wanting tenderness and doing really quite mean things, having a personal suffering Omelas-like scapegoat. The two other stories were nicely grotesque as well, although I didn't really get The Dormitory. The theme of failing at social expectations was loud and clear, however.
Next, I think, I'm going to read Nunez's The Last of Her Kind, because I have a soft spot for strict, doomed characters. I did write quite a bit yesterday and today, although the horror story is still half-baked at this moment.
I have had early awakenings and think I should be allowed to sleep for an entire week.
