I have had about a week to adjust to writing while preparing to be arranged-married, and I think I've done a swell job (so far as I'm in the middle of holidays I can manage). I have been worrying a lot about future work-loads but so far this AU chapter has tugged me forward very intently and that's been amazing. I really do have to trust in the process and write and write.

I've also been reading The Uncanny Reader (I'm not very faithful when it comes to reading I'm afraid) edited by Marjorie Sandor and so far she has picked real hair-raisers. I think there's a real pattern to the stories: They're rarely conclusive, and they leave me with a sense of longing, no matter how terrible the subject matter. I've read a real standout definitely in Moriya by Dean Paschal, which is a masterwork in how to use intricacy to convey the grain of a feeling. I think it very much is a 'Lovecraftian' work, definitely Strange (which is great). I can't wait to read more!

At the same time I've been reading Fugitive Pieces of course, and it's been unfailingly beautiful, although I wish now I had an Athos when I was younger. There's more of a spine here than in Held, but the spine is a little flimsy. But as a vehicle for the wonderful sensual prose it's great.

I wrote more encounters between Reisen and Parsee!
