08.01.2026 (1): Stalked
Jan. 8th, 2026 09:11 pmA strange set of days. I've had to be on my feet and alert to a large number of work-related things. Work is definitely ramping up, and I feel that frisson of anxiety always stalking me. I think this has driven me to distraction and the little sister of distraction (for me): focusing only on the easy things. This has meant that I have avoided Fugitive Pieces and gone slumming, a bit, in easier readings. I've also decided to try to save money elsewhere.
Not counting The Uncanny Reader, of course. I think the highlight of today has been Haunting Olivia by Karen Russell and the rather funny narrator and that killer last line. I'm reading a Joyce Carol Oates short story next. Tomorrow I will start on Fugitive Pieces again.
I did not write anything of note today, except an evasive piece done without too much thought. Sigh.
