But meanwhile I think I'm making great strides in sketching out Maya's character. She's an education-certification saleswoman. I also read more of The Heat of the Day but also dipped into Amina Cain's Indelicacy. I think Cain (very nice name) is writing something I struggle with: someone trying to realize their avocation.
