21.02.2026 (1): Rather Pointed

I finished The Heat of the Day and I'm very much still digesting it. The parallel between Louie and Stella (and their divergences) are very interesting, as are those between Robert and (Robert) Harrison. The book's such a rich repository of prose as well. By far my favorite chapters were (a) Roderick's first visit to Stella's new apartment, for the sheer amount of stuff about war it packs in, (b) Harrison and Stella's visit to a weird eatery and the climax of the indecent proposal, and (c) Robert's concluding scene with Stella.

Other things also happened today:

• Energized by The Heat of the Day, I wrote in the morning.
• Ate cheaply.
• Did not sleep.

Admittedly I spent most of the day reading.
