07.01.2025 (1): Difficult Session

sunshowerdandelionGosh, this session was difficult. Started off on the wrong foot with me reading My Year... and that book having a different writing style than the one I'm attempting for this fic. Ottessa Moshfegh writes really starkly and efficiently, whereas the style I'm attempting here is a lot more 'ornamented'. But I pushed through and managed to post a chapter! A very short chapter at around 1.100 words, but given the choppy scene (a lot of things are happening at once in the party), I think it was the right amount of words. I think the rhythm is all over the place and it's not a very good chapter, but it gets the story moving.
A little celebration is in order: My first chapter of the year!
The next chapter is also ongoing since I decided to take Oakley Hall's message to stop only when you've begun a new chapter.
