I got writing done and also reading, a slice (small but significant) of The Sea, The Sea. Re: Writing, I'm in the thick of voice difficulties. I have it, but Del seems to have gotten a bit more uninteresting, with her less flowery voice and her resentments not yet showing through. I'm reading through my old first person books to check their voices, and I do want something flowing like Never Let Me Go, but also something that can be curt, like Liars. Of course, since the interview is transcribed live, I think there'll be another kink to work through. The voice someone uses live, in conversation and interview, isn't really the voice of either books.
My usual voice won't do either, because that's flowery and meant for third person.
I did write in a nice and pretty section about flying, which I suspect will have to be edited significantly. I want things to flow, to have an undertow, and things do not have that yet. Back to thinking about voice.
