I read lots of The Sea, The Sea today, and what made me finally, reflexively reject Charles Arrowby, deep in my heart, was the scene at nearly the end with Lizzie and James. Arrowby is such a dick. He's so destructive. He should die, but he probably won't, men like him are invincible both morally and physically.
On the writing front, I noodled more with my modern AU, and I think I'm understanding Reisen's mood a bit more. She's angry at earth for not being what it was ginned up to be.
Also yesterday I watched The Wind That Shakes The Barley and wow that film's a litany of bad stuff and torture. Very compelling.
